Malabar Educational and Charitable Trust is a joint venture promoted and patronized by dedicated leaders and great scholars. The main objective of the trust is to provide better education to the society, to mould progressive younger generation and to make strong and developed India. Soon after the trust was registered under the Indian trust act 1882 in Sub Registrar office Cherpulassery on 24th February 2010. Great efforts were made to fulfill the objectives of the trust. First meeting of board of trustees itself decided to establish an Educational institution which can provide technical education and make the new generation well equipped.
One of the golden phases in the history of Malabar Charitable Trust was the establishment of “Malabar Polytechnic Campus”. It was approved by All India Council For Technical Education New Delhi and Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala.
“Malabar Polytechnic Campus” is the 63rd in Kerala and 4th in Palakkad of its kind. Because of the huge expenses and comparatively low income, there are less than 10 self financing polytechnic colleges in the state. Even though there are many engineering colleges, the 3 year diploma courses provided by the Polytechnic colleges are much preferred by the ordinary practical-knowledge seeking students. Currently, not even a single seat is available for Electrical Engineering in the two Govt. Polytechnic colleges in the District. And for civil engineering and mechanical engineering only 60 seats each are available in Palakkad, which makes it increasingly difficult for thousands of students. It was in this scenario that the Malabar Polytechnic Campus was established, whereby 120 seats were made available for Civil Engineering, and 60 Seats each for Electrical and Mechanical with 50% reservation for Govt. Quota and Management Quota respectively. We achieved good results in the 1st semester exams conducted by the Kerala Educational Department. We were able to achieve 26th position in the 63 polytechnic colleges in Kerala within a time of just 6 months. Even though we were able to achieve this within a span of just 2 years from the beginning of Malabar Educational and Charitable Trust. The understanding that we still had a lot to achieve was our main driving force.
